Each year, AIA awards performers who have given their time, talent, and heart to the indoor arts — supporting their next step, whether that's a two- or four-year college or a vocational program. AIA typically awards at least eight scholarships (four North, four South) of at least $500 each, with the exact number and amount varying year to year based on committee review.

About the Scholarship

AIA's scholarship program recognizes performers each year for both academic and extracurricular achievement. Applications are judged on academic excellence, school and community involvement, a letter of recommendation, and a personal essay — reviewed by the AIA Scholarship Committee, who select students who stand out across academic, artistic, and personal qualities.

Applications must be submitted online through a Google Form no later than March 6, 2026. Scan and attach as many supporting documents as possible; recommendations or transcripts that can't be scanned should be mailed instead.

Application Checklist

Scholarship Criteria

  1. Applicant must be in their senior year of high school, or already attending a college or university.
  2. Applicant must have an accumulated, unweighted GPA of at least 3.0.
  3. Awards may be used for a variety of post-secondary paths, including two- and four-year colleges and vocational programs.
  4. Applicant must be an active marching member of a unit competing in the current season's AIA Circuit Championships.

Disbursement

Scholarship recipients are announced during the awards ceremonies at AIA Circuit Championships. Awards are granted for one year only and paid after January 1 of the following year.

Funds are sent directly to the recipient's secondary institution, not to the recipient. Recipients will receive a form by email after January 1 to collect the information needed for disbursement.
